Keep Your Damned Flag But...

I think getting rid of the Confederate flag is window dressing and an easy out for neo-liberals and semi-moderate posers of the Republican persuasion--it allows them to look contrite but still use any means necessary to hold onto their bastions of power and privilege.

So as far as I am concerned you can keep your mofoing flag!!

But if you really want to change things...just for giggles

Reinstate those pesky bits around voting rights and get rid of those other nasty practices designed to suppress the vote in POC communities, demilitarize and re-train police to become a police service rather than a police force, undo practices that have turned our prison system into the new plantation system, raise the minimum wage.

 Oh and yeah on a personal note--everyone now suffering under the delusion that we live in a post racial world get to the nearest stop and get on the freaking clue bus when it arrives.

That kid with the gun in the Bible study/prayer meeting may indeed have some mental issues...but he like the rest of the nation was breastfed on the tit of white supremacy. He is, in fact, as Jung might have said--the Shadow Side of our nation's psyche--he is the thing most white Americans keep chained and locked in the basement of their hearts--screaming to get out and really f*^k ish up, but it still comes out in almost daily bursts and rains down/bleeds though upon POC as soul killing micro-aggressions.

Until white folks cop to it and deal with it--begin to excavate and examine their collusion with and their benefiting from white privilege, the opportunity for this nation to truly heal at a deep level is a hella long ways off. It would require a move toward self reflection...not big on the list of US citizens' traits...unfortunately it appears that this element is not an essential way of moving through the Earth School for far too many of us.
